Τhe project midterm meeting took place at PENA on 26th of April, 2016. At the meeting the progress and the coming actions of the project were presented and discussed. Also, demonstration of equipment such as Dtbird, bat detector, etc., was implemented.
DTBird is a self-working system that detetcs flying birds in realtime,
and takes automatic actions, as bird warning and dissuasion,
or wind turbine Stop.
WWF Hellas and the environmental consultancy company NCC performed the first pilot operation of the ornithological radar in the zone of the wind farms in Thrace.
In recent years, ornithological radars have been used abroad with considerable success, limiting the impact of wind farms on birdlife. Radars recording the presence and movement of birds and in conjunction with a special software enable reaction in real time.
